Who does not want to be rich? A rich man is an influential man and an empowered person. He is important, he is VIP and he is the virtual king. The whole world seems to be at his beck and call. Who will not like to avail himself of this privilege?
The big question however is: how do you get rich? Money does not certainly grow on trees. One has to put in years of labour to get, what you used to call ‘hard-earned money’. Now in this highly civilised society, you don’t need to go for the so called ‘hard-earned money’ but can simply opt for the ‘easy money’ – the money that one can earn easily without having to shed a drop of sweat.
You may be wondering as to how is this possible. I would then claim that you are not progressive enough nor are you well civilised. Worse still, you have failed to keep pace with modernity. How else would you fail to notice the increasing flock of the neo-rich who possess nothing other than the art to be-fool the masses? Have you not heard rags-to-riches stories where unknown faces suddenly emerge out of the blues to claim indisputable financial standing bracketed with the billionaires of the century? These worthies - with little or no investments - have certainly developed the trick to dupe the masses, and look, today they are ruling the roast? Senior politicians, bureaucrats, the administrators - – they come to the scene virtually empty handed, and in no time, they become the rich and the famous. How come? Simple! They took advantage of the boon of modern age and civil society, and learnt the art of greasing the palm of those who matter.
I know the case of a father-son team apprehended by the Police for encashing a forged cheque. The son was heard bemoaning in the jail-cell: "My dad is a fool, or else both of us would have been out of cell and free from this mess by bribing the Police. And all this from the money we stole."
The lesson is obvious. Bribery and corruption is well entrenched in our system. If you are strategically placed, do indulge in corruption, and you will find yourself rubbing shoulders with the rich and the powerful. A word of caution here! Do not forget to regularly rehearse of devouring jail-food for long duration. Good luck!
